Synopsis>>
DVC PRO, 17:20
What is consciousness and is it possible to replicate it? Combining various
scientific and philosophical perspectives, Dust of the Earth is
a documentary that examines the human mind, the artificial mind, and the
power of creation. Intercut with a dramatic sequence of mystical intrigue,
the film explores the Kabbalistic legend of the golem of Prague and its
relationship to the philosophical quandaries of the modern world.

Director's Statement >>
Dust of the Earth was a real challenge both conceptually and artistically.
How does one create a film about consciousness?!? The film was definitely
a process and dramatically evolved throughout the entire production, not
really showing its true character until the final stages of editing. I
learned a lot throughout the production not only about the technicalities
of film making, but about teamwork, the relationship a film has to its
audience, and most of all about myself and the kind of film maker I would
like to be.
So far Dust of the Earth has been well received by its audiences, invoking
much interest and debate. It won Best Documentary at the FirstGlance Philadelphia
Film Festival and Best Canadian Student Mid-Length Film at the Calgary
Fringe Film Festival. Dust of the Earth is available for download at www.IndiePix.net
